Treat Yourself Well
It's important that you take time for yourself and do things that make you happy and balanced. I know you're probably the kind of person that gives a lot to others and go above & beyond but don't quite receive the thanks that you deserve.
You should know this, no one can pour from an empty cup. To elaborate further on this concept - you have to make sure that you are filled with love, health, wealth, joy, and etc. if you want to be able to give those things to other people. When a person is genuinely happy with his or her own life they want to see others happy as well. So with that being said - the people that you are pouring into may not have anything in their cups, so you shouldn't expect for them to pour back into you.
It is completely okay when you find yourself not feeling upbeat because no one is happy all of the time - each of us have times where we may feel sad and that is perfectly acceptable. That is when we have to practice getting ourselves back into that great mood and it all starts within our mindset. Here are a few things that you can do to get yourself back on track:
- Get out & take a walk/jog around your (favorite) neighborhood
- Pat yourself on the back
- Take time out to do things that you enjoy
- Buy yourself a gift
- Go on a mini-vacation
- Surround yourself with people that encourage you
- Help someone else succeed, or give a compliment, listen to & encourage others
Sometimes we look to others to make us happy and to appreciate us for the things that we are doing and when that does not happen we feel sad, disappointed and unappreciated. That is a reason that it is essential that you practice appreciating yourself, treating yourself, and making time for yourself every now and then - create your own happiness. Once you have happiness inside of you, then you can share it freely to others without expectation.
